Knights Templar History

The Masonic organization of Knights Templar in Northern Nevada was founded in Virginia City in the late 1800's.


Gold and silver mined in the Comstock was sent to France to be woven into fringe to be put on uniforms.  This look was destroyed during one of the world wars never to be used again.


Today, the bulk of the organization split into lodges in Carson City, Reno and Virginia City.


The Knights Templar was founded in Virginia City and each year a large congregation of Knights attend Easter Services at St Paul the Prospector wearing the invaluable uniforms created over a century ago.
