LOSING ITS LUSTER

Unfortunately, after 140 years in the extreme weather conditions of Virginia City, this historically and architecturally significant church is showing its age. The foundations are strong and secure, but the building itself needs restoration. Wooden walls exposed to almost a century and a half of sun, snow and wind are dried out, rotting away, and warped. They can no longer support the window sets, which are at risk for failing. The roof beams are warped and unstable. Heat and electrical systems are archaic and might easily set the tinder-dry building aflame again. We must act now, or lose this beautiful and historic building forever.
